I'm going to use it for a few days and a couple trips around town first before I give a review. But my intial impressions of the kit is that it works just as advertised. Doesn't feel cheap, BT syncing is very easy and syncs every time I plug the phone in. Speaker volume is clear but may need to be louder. I still have to give it some time and adjust to my liking first (my car is pretty loud). And yes, I am using Navigon, but I have not yet downloaded their Live Traffice update.
Per the manual, calls will not come in through your car's speaker but instead the TomTom car kit's speaker.
I currently have the kit mounted on my windshield but I also tried mounting it on my dash. Now mount the TomTom kit as you normally would on the sticky pad as if it were glass. It sticks and works very well. Alternatively, you can put the adhesive disk on the sticky pad if you want the suction cup of the TomTom kit to cling to a hard plastic surface. When you leave your car, just peel the Sticky Pad off of your dash and it will not leave any residue. Essentially it is a GPS friction mount. I mean a car from 20 years ago runs fine if you haven't driven any other car. The internet from 10 years ago would be fine if you had never experienced todays broadband. Hell life as a virgin would be cool if you didn't know what sex was.

Well Cydia is like being a virgin then having sex with a whore then getting STDs that constantly slow down your OS. It might be good in the short term, but you'll have to work hard to keep the swelling down with various lotions and creams. But unlike STDs, you can revert to a clean version of the OS anytime you want. :P

1. If you check Apple's knowledge database or the manual that come with MBP, it actually says not to put this laptop on top of your lap, or it'll cause discomfort and potentially a burn with prolonged use. Now that's a new thing for a Powerbook or iBook user. Almost all the reviews of MBP state one con throughout, and thats the heat it dissipates. I own a MBP 2.16 Ghz and let me tell you it is very uncomforting to keep this on lap even through the clothing. Forget about using it in shorts unless you are in Alaska.

What are you people doing to scratch your phones so much? I don't use a case with my iPhone 4, carry it in my pocket (sometimes with my car keys) and there's not a noticeable scratch on the front or back.

If copying style is a crime then most of the automakers are in trouble because all too many of their vehicles look far too much alike. (e.g. Lexus' 5-door suv crossover looks like Subaru's 5-door Impreza which is strikingly similar to the Mazda from a few years ago, but then Mazda's first crossover turbo SUV is a blatant rip-off of Subaru's WRX from the '04 year, so to quote Aretha Franklin, Who's zooming who? But then I think most of the cars from the late '80s and '90s look like the horribly ugly Ford Tempo in a basic sense. Then when Hummer made boxy cool again, we got a load of imitators there as well (Cube, Soul, etc.) but then cars were boxy long before Hummer came around so.... Notice how much the newest Corvette more closely resembles the Viper in the front than previous Corvettes (sometimes just changing the headlight style makes one look much like another). Then there's knockoff rims, taillight styles (hello ugly Altezas), etc.
Frankly, if pop/rock musicians sued each other to the degree that Apple and others do it, they'd ALL be in trouble. There's only so many chord combinations and basic progressions possible, after all. Style is just one aspect.

That's just getting complacent in my opinion, people like myself like changing phones yearly, no new iPhone means no return business, I'll try something else instead, bad move if true.
It only says "Fiscal Year" which ends in September, so if this news stoy holds true, you'll still have the option of getting a new iPhone this year!

No, but 1.8 is a big difference when it comes to taking a baby's temperature or figuring out if your meat is done just right. For a child, 99 is considered a mild fevor and is 37.22. 98.6 is considered "normal" and is 37 flat in C. However, if you had a mother trying to keep track of her child's fever over a period of time, the small variations between those two temps would be a lot more important. The total variation between 99, 99.5, and 100 F is so small on the C scale (37.22, 37.5, 37.77) that it's a lot easier to make mistakes in recording or reporting the results. Sure it's easy to do when it's your job in a professional setting, but lay people make mistakes all the time. Using a scale that makes the number differences larger (and psychologically significant, because you can bet no mother is going to forget that her child has a fever of 100) helps reduce those errors.
First of all, using two decimal places is not necessary for recording a baby's temperature, Fahrenheit or Celsius. 37.2 C is equivalent to 98.96 F, and 37.22 C is equal to 98.996 F. The hundredth's place is clearly superfluous. Apple never was a part of Mhz rat-race. Look at its bestselling Powerbook. How fast was it compared to the then PC laptops. Anyways, WWDC is suppose to be developers conference, so we should speculate more about Leopard and hopefuly MacPros (because they are long due) insted of iPods and MBPs.

Newegg has 512's for about 100 and 1GB chips for $200. Way cheaper than apple's upgrades. And they are retial crucial chips...

Wherever I have good internet connection, I have my Local storage ... I can buy music over the air and listen to it on my iPhone... and get it on my iPod Touch.... Don't see why it needs to get more spacy.
Alot of people will enjoy this but personally, I wanna OWN my storage, not subscribe to it... plus listening to music off a drive saves more battery then having your 3G/4G or WiFi pulling to get your music.
Oh and when you having ****** coverage, (back of a grocery store) what happens then to your cloud playlist??

pro: one less disc to keep track of. my family already lost my iWork disc.
cons: what if i want to format the hard drive and restart from scratch? or even just archive and install? what if i completely replace my hard drive? what if i want to sell my mac and get a new one, would i retain the license or would the buyer get it? how would they reinstall the OS after I wipe the hard drive? how long is this going to take to download? will we be able and authorized to burn our own install DVDs from the downloaded software?

That's not really true of the SZ series either. The SZ ranges from 0.9 to 1.33" or so, and the drive area is in the thin part of it at the front:

I would absolutely love a tablet. I would suggest people not get hung up on what other tablet PCs are out there, because I don't see anything out there that matches what I want, and I've been searching for 3+ years now. MS attempted it, did something miserable and half-assed as usual, and so tablets are called a failure. There were lots of MP3 players around before the iPod too.

The download for the Mobileme control panel for windows is free. It's very basic but all people really need is to link with Outlook contacts and Exchange. Everything else can be done me.com.

The download for the Mobileme control panel for windows is free. It's very basic but all people really need is to link with Outlook contacts and Exchange. Everything else can be done me.com.

Yes, Apple is not the first or last company to use emerging tech to track user information. That said, the information they do collect needs to be understood by the user...including the rational behind the collection. i.e., want to see your location on Google Maps? "Accept Location Services" for this instance...etc

The lack of color in the system icons is god awful. Color graphics are much more easily identified than a scaled down grey icon.Grey is the new grey at Apple it seems. The stark minimalism is starting to become an issue.

Wrong... Apple didn't invent the concept of the touch UI, they bought most of what they have and own very little rights to it.

It's nice to know though, that there are some at Macrumors that actually KNOW where Apple got most of their "innovation" from.
And I hope no one goes mentioning the Newton . . . when a simple Wikipedia search will do.
